Hedge End have been awarded the Bronze Award for Eco Church and have received the Wooden Plaque and the Certificate from A Rocha. These items were presented during the service on Sunday 8th May 2022. Rev John Hughes praised the dedication and hard work of those who are involved with the project at Hedge End and commends it to other churches in the circuit.
This initiative is run by A Rocha who say the Eco Church Scheme is open to churches of any denomination who 'Wish to demonstrate that the Gospel is Good News for Gods Earth'.
The scheme is organised under various heading as follows:
- Worship and teaching
- Buildings
- Land
- Community and Global Engagement
- Lifestyle
The church is now working towards the Silver Award, so watch this space for further updates.
This is a community initiative and your personal activity can influence this effort, as well as help us as humans not to waste resources. The Eco Church initiative is one of encouragement and not coercion, nobody will be checking up on what you personally do.
